Lithium ion

Lithium ion currently enjoys a position at the leading edge of battery technology with high R&D investment because of the system's high energy density. However, the need to include electronic circuitry for performance and safety monitoring plus a complex pack assembly approval process have limited its breadth of application.  Many manufacturers now offer off-the-shelf battery solutions.

Available in cylindrical (eg. 18650), prismatic and coin formats.

These cells cannot be supplied individually but can be used within custom packs. Some 'standard' packs are available.
